1272011 Socks

I love this little scarf I have.  It is from this little second hand store Gabi and I used to hunt last year called Second Hand Chic. Sometimes, I am not sure how to wear scarves like this though.  I tried to put it on my head...but that didn't work.   Well, I am off to read about mens silhouettes in the 1400's and a couple contes de fées.  Also, is anyone else sick of this nasty ass inversion???

I found inspiration today in this photo.  I love the way she rolled up her pants to show off her socks.  Plus all of the layering, the little details in the fabrics, and the color scheme is wonderful.  I wish I could dress myself like this!

A Very Verde Afternoon

Yesterday we had the opportunity to do a shoot with an old acting friend of Julia's, Kat Child, the knitting genius of Verde Original. Kat resorted to knitting while she was working at her first "grown up job" in order to save herself from the boredom of sitting behind a desk all day. She had a friend teach her, but because she didn't know to how to read a pattern, she ended up creating her own designs, which makes her items that much more amazing.
We seriously felt like two kids in a candy store looking through the basket of handmade goodies Kat brought for us to use at the shoot. Her designs are not just unique, but the time and artistry that has been taken into making each item is apparent in every hat, glove, scarf, etc. she makes. Not to mention, the chunky knits kept us warm in the freezing cold weather that we have been dealing with lately.

Although Kat's website is still under construction, you should definitely go check out her facebook page  HERE.

Breakfast

I finally figured out how to use my microwave!  Or, I learned how to auto-defrost frozen fruit. So now I can go back to having granola for breakfast with strawberries.  Yummm.  I also found this wonderful magazine called "The Hub," published in England.  It has everything about art, fashion, architecture, film, photography, literature  and culture.
My required reading for the week (or at least part of it)...Asterix.  Yes, I am reading a comic in college...and yes, I am taking a picture of it...God knows why....

ps sorry we have been so bad at this lately...but stay tuned because we have a really wonderful post coming soon!  Check it out HERE!

Case and Point.

Hey Everyone! First off I have to apologize for being such a bad blogger lately. I am currently rehearsing for my senior show, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot by Stephen Adly Gurgis, and it has seriously been taking over my life. Im playing a total of four different characters.... three of them are men.... very manly men to be exact. However! My main character is the ghetto fabulous Saint Monica, and my costume is AMAZING!!!! I'll give you guys some more information about the show and all the wonderful costumes very soon, but for now here's a sneak peak of the bedazzled Monica.

The REAL reason for this post, though, is to help out a very dear friend of mine, Jess, who I have known for a few years now. Unfortunately, Jess has been hospitalized due to several blood clots in her lungs and two large clots that were blocking the arteries to her heart, which were caused by her birth control, YAZ. Today, Jess was informed that she has a large blood clot in her left groin area, called a Deep Venous Thrombosis. Now she is faced with the decision to either 1) have surgery to remove the clot or 2) go through the regular medicinal procedure which would leave her left leg swollen and hindering her from maintaining her active lifestyle for the rest of her life. Although the recovery rate for the surgery is low, the medicine that is used could be fatal if  it were to travel to her brain.
As a result of her current situation, Jess has stared a blog to help educate women about the dangers of taking birth control (specifically YAZ) and informing them on how to lead a healthy lifestyle. In no way do I advise women who are sexually active to abstain from taking birth control and I think I can speak for both myself and Jess when I say that the main point is to take precautions  with your health and to find the best medication for you and your body.

2011/01/10/Back to School

Classes started again today.  I think I am going to resign my self to the library for the rest of my life. I am determined this semester to study, study, study and actually learn something about French grammar.  If that happens, it will be a miracle.
Along with the new school semester, I have three new obsessions:
1. MAC Pro-Longwear Made to Last Lip Cream  2. Drape Tee's  3. Draped Jackets
The Drape Tee is big, boxy and the sleeve starts half way down the arm.  However, they are the most comfortable things in the world, and (for their lack of shape) I think they fall nicely.
I am obsessed with Draped Jackets.  I think they are lovely.  I love the length of this grey one I have, and the loose cut of the front.  Plus, it is warm but not too hot and looks okay with a coat on top.
Well, I am off to finish "Eurydice" by Sarah Ruhl.
